Sarah doing a live wedding painting for a wedding at The Glasshouse, Melbourne

Painting and romance have always been a big passion of mine, right from an early age. I grew up watching romcoms galore as well as loving to be creative with anything I possibly could and was allowed to! I have been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil in my hands, and I started painting shortly in my single digit years, starting with pets, houses and people, and haven't looked back. I always had an affinity for drawing and photographing people growing up, developing my photography skills in my early teens and into my early 20's, however I kept coming back to painting, and over time ran a pet-portraiture business for several years whilst studying and completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNSW Art & Design.

During this time and afterwards, I showcased my artwork in several group shows as well as solo, self-run exhibitions, including 'A Future Place' (2020) full of over-grown cityscapes, and 'Amalgamate Sydney' (2021) full of abstract and mixed artworks. I also founded the emerging artists exhibition and directed the showcasing for 12 emerging artists called 'The Next Step Sydney' as well as completed a largescale commission mural for Dan Murphy's in Prahran on Chatham Street, both done in 2023.

I actually started out as a DJ for weddings on the side whilst I painted my artworks, where one wedding I discovered a live wedding painter there also and thought "This is a thing?! Oh my goodness, what a perfect idea!! I WANT TO DO THIS!!". Live wedding portraiture then slowly began to emerge for me in around 2022, and in April, 2024 I officially opened my own business doing live wedding paintings, thus Melbourne Wedding Painter was born!

I absolutely love being able to paint each bridal couples special day into their own timeless artwork. It's an honour to be a part of every single wedding I attend, and I love that through my artworks, each couple gets to relive their wedding day, every day, for the rest of their lives together. My work has so much meaning to me, most importantly, because it has meaning to all of the beautiful bridal couples who have ever booked me in to capture their wedding day as entertainment and art.

Please reach out if you would like me to paint a live artwork for your wedding day, and to ask any questions about my other services. You can find all of my details below.

Sarah lives in Melbourne with her husband James who is a film-maker. They got married in December, 2024 in the Dandenong Ranges. They love doing creative things and often collaborate together on projects. She has a little black void (aka. a black cat named Phantom) who she snuggles with regularly during her downtime, or when Phantom insists on sitting on her lap whilst doing studio painting touch-ups. She runs her business herself, and also has an Instagram @melbourneweddingpainter where she promotes videos and pictures of her wedding artworks for everyone to enjoy.
